Whitestone Historical Society

Annual History Fair
July 24th, 2010 at the Dunchurch Community Centre
Description
The Whitestone Historical Society meets the last Wednesday of each month at the home of Fay Clelland. This group was formed to foster the recognition of the unique heritage in the Whitestone area and to encourage its preservation. We welcome your input. All interested persons are invited to provide input, either by writing to us or by attending any of our meetings to discuss ideas and Society matters.
Activities
In July of each year, the Society holds its Annual History Fair in the Community Centre in Dunchurch. The Fair features exhibits of historic photos, family trees, vintage clothing, and other antique items. Please check the Events Calendar for the exact date. Membership is not necessary in order to participate in exhibiting historical material.
The Society publishes calendars annually featuring historic photos of our area. 2008 Calendars are now available at the Municipal Office, at the Library, and at various retail outlets in our area. Older issues of the Historical Calendars are still available as collector's items. The Society has also produced a booklet called "Walking Tour of Historic Dunchurch" which is also available.
Currently we are working on a project called the Driving Tour which includes information of the families who have lived in this area. We hope to record the everyday life, both the happy and sad, including the commonplace and unusual events.
